Your mission

The role
As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you join the early team and own the torso of our humanoid - an industrial-grade machine built for the highest levels of reliability and performance. It is where energy, computing and heat come together: the battery, the compute and the E/E backbone, packaged with a cooling system that keeps them within limits through every duty cycle. Working alongside the engineer responsible for torso structure, you own the system - its architecture, package, interfaces and thermal behavior - and you take pride in turning a dense, high-power system into a safe, serviceable and manufacturable product.

Your profile

Key responsibilities
  • Torso System Architecture: Own the system architecture and package of the torso - from layout concepts to production-ready CAD - balancing volume, mass and center of gravity, thermal, EMC, safety and serviceability, and defining the interfaces to the rest of the robot together with the adjacent engineering teams.
  • Battery Integration: Integrate the battery system into the torso, including mounting, impact protection, thermal propagation safeguards, venting and service or swap concepts.
  • Compute & E/E Backbone: Package the compute units and the E/E backbone - power distribution, harnesses, connectors and networking - into one coherent, EMC-robust system.
  • Thermal Management: Own the cooling architecture for battery and compute - from thermal budgets and heat paths to the cooling hardware - and validate it under real duty cycles together with Thermal Simulation.
  • Safety & Validation: Define and drive the verification of the torso system - thermal, electrical, ingress, vibration and abuse testing - in line with the relevant battery and machine safety standards.
  • DFM/DFA Excellence: Design every component for manufacturability and assembly at scale from day one, working closely with the workshop, suppliers and supply chain to eliminate late-stage redesigns.
  • Mentorship & Standards: Establish the organization's standards for system packaging, E/E integration and thermal design, and mentor junior engineers in mechatronic integration best practices.
Who we are looking for
We seek builders ready to move beyond theory to real deployment: professionals who value precision and reliability as much as innovation - and who think in systems rather than parts.

Must have
  • Experience: 5+ years in mechatronic or system-level product development in automotive (e.g. EV battery systems, central compute, power electronics), robotics, consumer electronics or similar high-tech industries. A proven track record of shipping dense, high-power hardware systems is essential.
  • Mastery of CAD & Packaging: Expert level in CAD, including complex system packaging, harness routing and digital mock-up.
  • Thermal Engineering: Profound understanding of heat transfer and cooling for batteries and high-power electronics - air and liquid cooling, heat sinks, cold plates and thermal interface materials - backed by hands-on testing.
  • Battery Systems: Proven experience integrating lithium-ion battery systems, including mechanical protection, thermal runaway mitigation and the relevant safety and transport standards.
  • E/E Integration: Hands-on experience integrating compute modules, power distribution, harnesses and connectors - including ECAD/MCAD collaboration, grounding, shielding and EMC-aware mechanical design.
  • DFM/DFA Proficiency: Strong command of design for series production, focusing on manufacturing-driven design optimization, parts reduction, assembly-friendly tolerancing and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) reduction.
  • Mindset: You balance startup agility with the rigor of industrial-grade engineering. You keep the whole system in view while sweating the details - and you design for the heat, vibration, impacts and dust a robot faces outside a rendering.
Nice to have
  • Thermal Simulation: Hands-on experience with thermal simulation or CFD for quick concept studies.
  • Power Electronics: A good understanding of DC/DC conversion, high-current power paths and their thermal behavior.
  • Functional Safety: Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g. ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO 26262).
  • Electrification & Charging: Experience with charging and docking interfaces or battery swap systems.
  • Robotics Fundamentals: Working understanding of humanoid and/or industrial robotics systems - how perception, actuation and control interact.

Why us?

  • The Team: Work alongside leadership with a proven track record of building unicorn-scale companies and defining global robotics standards.

  • Smart Strategy: We operate as disciplined fast followers. Capital is timed to the deployment inflection point, avoiding early-mover dead ends to scale fast on proven foundations.

  • Resources: We are substantially internally funded and attract top-tier investors to avoid any capital constraints for our mission.

  • Historic Opportunity: Join at the dawn of a new industry comparable to the rise of the automobile. Help shape the European champion in this trillion-dollar market.
